Your data
Delete your account
Applies to the iOS and Android apps by Foxxception LLC · Updated October 9, 2026
Matrimony creates a private account for your phone the first time you open it, so your entries are kept safe and can be shared with your spouse when you choose. You can delete that account and everything it holds at any time, from inside the app or by asking us.
In the app (immediate)
Open Settings → Account → Delete Account. The app first erases your data from our servers, then asks our sign-in service to remove the account itself, then clears your entries and progress from your phone. If our servers cannot be reached, it stops before deleting anything, so nothing is left half-deleted.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
By request
If you no longer have the app installed, email [email protected] from the backup email you linked in Settings, or describe your pairing (your first name, your spouse's first name, and roughly when you used the app). We confirm your identity, delete the data within 30 days, and reply when it is done.
What is deleted
- Your profile: the first names you entered, your role, your settings, your subscription status, and your notification token.
- Everything you wrote: evening reviews, Scripture reflections, answers to the daily question and Cana prompts, weekly page answers and prayers, prayer intentions and your "I prayed for this" marks, the requests you marked as done, and your saved date plans.
- Your Ask conversations and the weekly pages saved to your account.
- Your virtue history and the usage analytics tied to your account.
- If you were paired, your spouse keeps the shared cathedral and their own entries; the link between the two accounts is removed, and their app drops your shared entries the next time it syncs. If you were not paired, your cathedral is deleted too.
What is kept, and for how long
- Your sign-in record. The sign-in account itself is removed where our sign-in provider allows it. If a login record remains, it holds none of your content: only an account ID and the sign-in email, which is a random address the app made for your phone unless you added your own backup email. Write to us and we will remove it.
- Usage-limit records. Our server keeps a row each time your account sends a request to our guidance service (Ask, insights, or a weekly page): your account ID, the kind of request, and the time, never the content. They enforce the daily and monthly limits, and the in-app deletion does not remove them. Write to us and we will.
- Pairing invite codes. Invite codes you created stay on record with your account ID and the dates they were made and used, with no content. Write to us and we will remove them.
- Reported content and crash reports. If you reported generated text (an Ask answer, a weekly page, the readings study notes or Journey themes), the reported text and your reason stay in Sentry, our crash-reporting service, until its retention period ends (up to 90 days). We do not attach what you write to crash reports, and they expire the same way.
- Subscription and payment records. Apple or Google and RevenueCat hold these under their own policies.
- Recovery history. Deleted data can remain for a short time in our database provider's recovery history before it is overwritten.
