Privacy Policy
Effective July 23, 2026
Matrimony is built by Foxxception LLC. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Matrimony is designed to be local-first: your spiritual journal lives on your device by default.
Who we are
Matrimony ("the app") is operated by Foxxception LLC ("we," "us"). For any privacy question, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Your first name, your spouse's first name, your role (husband or wife), and whether you have children.
- Your devotional content — daily virtue focus, evening reviews, reflections, and journal notes.
- Questions you ask the in-app spiritual director.
- Your preferences — theme, font size, active modes, and prayer reminder settings.
Information created as you use the app
- Virtue scores, streaks, and cathedral progress derived from your activity.
- Basic usage events — for example, that a review was submitted or the theme was changed. These record what you did, never what you wrote, and are sent to our servers to help us improve the app.
- Crash and error diagnostics, through Sentry, so we can find and fix bugs. These contain technical details only — never your journal, reviews, reflections, or the questions you ask.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your payment card details, precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising or sell your data.
Where your data lives
By default, everything you create is stored on your device. When you back up your account (by adding an email and password) or pair with your spouse, your entries — journal notes, evening reviews, Scripture reflections, and shared couple content — are also stored on our servers, encrypted in transit, so they can be restored on a new device and shared between the two of you. Access is enforced by per-account security (row-level security) so that only you and your spouse can ever read your couple's content. If you never create an account, nothing you write leaves your device.
Subscriptions
Paid subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play through our payments partner, RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (active, expired, tier) but never your full payment information.
AI features
Some features use artificial intelligence, in two different ways. Insights — grouping your reflections into gentle themes — are generated on your phone when your device supports on-device AI; on devices that don't, the analysis is done through our own secure server via Magisterium AI. The Ask feature (the Magisterium AI reference) is separate: when you ask a question, only the question you type is sent — through that same secure server — to Magisterium AI to generate a cited answer. We never attach your journal, reviews, or reflections to your questions, and your content is never used to train AI models.
How we use information
- To provide the app's features and save your progress.
- To back up and sync your data across your devices and with your spouse, when you enable it.
- To process and validate subscriptions.
- To diagnose problems and improve the app.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app — cloud hosting (Neon) for backup and sync, RevenueCat for subscription management, Sentry for crash diagnostics, and Magisterium AI for the questions you choose to ask — and only as needed to deliver the service, or when required by law. We never sell personal information, and we never use third-party advertising.
Your choices & rights
- Delete everything. Settings → Account → Delete Account permanently removes your data.
- Skip the cloud. Simply don't add an email; your data stays on your device.
- Control reminders. Turn notifications on or off per prayer in Settings.
- Access or export. Email [email protected] and we'll help.
Children
Matrimony is intended for married adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date above, and where appropriate, noted in the app.
