Privacy Policy

Matrimony is built by Foxxception LLC. This policy explains what the app collects, where it is kept, who helps us run it, and the choices you have. In short: what you write is private to you, your spouse sees only what you choose to share, and we never sell your data or show ads.

Who we are

Matrimony ("the app") is operated by Foxxception LLC ("we," "us"). For any privacy question, contact us at [email protected].

Your private account

The first time you open Matrimony, it quietly creates a private account for your phone. There is no sign-up and no email needed. The app keeps a copy of your data on your phone so it works offline, and it keeps your account in sync with our servers so your entries are kept safe and can be shared with your spouse when you choose.

Your account holds your profile, what you write (including drafts you have not shared yet, such as a reflection in progress or a private answer), your Ask conversations, your prayer intentions, and the content you and your spouse share. It is private to you: per-account access rules on our database (row-level security) let only you read your own entries, and your spouse only what is shared with them.

The one exception is the Evening Review: its answers stay on your phone as a private draft unless you share them with your spouse.

What your spouse can see

Matrimony is made for two, but pairing never opens your whole journal. Once you pair:

• Only when you share: your evening reviews, Scripture reflections, answers to the daily question and Cana prompts, and your weekly page answers and prayers. Several of these stay hidden until you have both answered.
• Shared by design: the prayer intentions you add and your "I prayed for this" marks, the loving requests you mark as done, the date plans you save, the weekly page written for the two of you, your daily practice progress, and whether your account has Premium, so that one subscription can cover you both.
• Never: your unshared drafts or the entries you keep private.
• Your Ask conversations are stored with your account, and the app never shows them to your spouse.

Notifications we send to your spouse's phone, for example when you share your evening review, include your first name. You can disconnect from your spouse at any time on the Together tab.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Your first name and your spouse's first name, whether you are the husband or the wife, whether you are married or engaged, whether you have children, and your wedding date if you add it.
• What you write: evening reviews, Scripture reflections, answers to the daily question and Cana prompts, weekly page answers and prayers, prayer intentions, and the date plans you save.
• The questions you ask in Ask, and the answers you receive.
• Your settings, such as theme, text size, and the parts of the app you turn on. Prayer reminder times stay on your phone.
• An email address and password, only if you choose to back up your account in Settings.

Information created as you use the app

• Virtue scores, streaks, and cathedral progress derived from your activity.
• Basic usage events, for example that a review was submitted or the theme was changed. These record what you did, never what you wrote.
• Your subscription status: whether you have Premium, whether it is in a free trial, and when it renews or ends.
• A notification token, so your spouse's app can let you know when they share something with you.
• Crash and error reports, through Sentry, so we can find and fix bugs. They contain technical details such as the error, the app version and the device model, along with a random installation ID. We do not attach what you write to them; the only exception is content you choose to report, described under "AI features."

Information we do not collect

We do not collect your payment card details, precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking, and we never sell your data.

Subscriptions and free trials

Matrimony Premium is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through our subscription partner, RevenueCat. Free trials are run by Apple or Google as well: the store decides who is eligible, and it charges your store account if a trial converts to a paid subscription. We receive your subscription status (active or expired, trial or paid, and when it renews) tied to your account ID, but never your payment details.

AI features

Some features use artificial intelligence (all of them Premium except the readings study notes). Here is what each one sends, and where.

• Insights and weekly pages. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, these are written on the phone itself whenever it can. On Android phones and other iPhones, or when a phone cannot finish one, the text the feature reads is sent over an encrypted connection through our server to Magisterium AI, which writes the result. For your own insights, that text is your recent reviews and reflections; for the themes you share as a couple and for the weekly page, it is what you and your spouse have shared, with your first names and roles.
• Ask. When you ask a question, your question and the recent messages of that conversation are sent through our server to Magisterium AI, which answers from Church documents with citations. Nothing from your journal is attached.
• Daily readings. The study notes beside the daily Mass readings are prepared once a day for everyone. Nothing about you is used to make them.
• Reporting. If you report generated text (an Ask answer, a weekly page, the study notes beside the daily readings, or your Journey themes), that text and the reason you picked are sent to us through Sentry so we can review it. A weekly page or a set of themes can echo what you and your spouse wrote, so a report of one includes those words. Your questions, journal, and reviews themselves are not included.

We send this text to Magisterium AI only to write the result you asked for, and we never use what you write to train AI models.

How we use information

• To provide the app's features and save your progress.
• To keep your account in sync and share what you choose with your spouse.
• To check your subscription, including whether a free trial is active.
• To send the notifications you allow, including a reminder before a free trial ends.
• To find and fix problems, review reported content, and improve the app.

Service providers

We share data only with the companies that help us run Matrimony, only as needed to provide the service, or when required by law:

• Neon: our database and sign-in service, which stores your account and synced content.
• Cloudflare: runs our server, which connects the app to Magisterium AI and checks subscriptions, and hosts the daily readings and this website.
• RevenueCat: subscriptions and free trials.
• Sentry: crash and error reports, and the content you choose to report.
• Expo: delivers push notifications, through Apple's push service on iPhone and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, and app updates.
• Magisterium AI: Ask answers, and Premium insights and weekly pages when they are not written on your phone.
• Apple and Google: the app stores, which handle payments and free trials.

Your account data is stored in the United States. We never sell personal information, and we never use third-party advertising.

Security and retention

Everything the app sends to these services is encrypted in transit. We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete it as described on our account deletion page.

This website

If you join the waitlist on matrimony-app.com, we keep your email address, with the date and the page you signed up from, only to tell you when Matrimony is ready. Write to us to be removed.

Your choices & rights

• Delete everything. Settings → Account → Delete Account removes your data from our servers and your phone. The account deletion page lists what is removed and what is kept.
• Share only what you choose. Your reviews, reflections, and answers reach your spouse only when you share them, and you can disconnect from your spouse at any time.
• Control notifications. Turn prayer reminders on or off in Settings, or turn off notifications for Matrimony in your phone's settings.
• Access, correct, or export. Email [email protected] and we'll help.

Children

Matrimony is made for adults 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has used the app, write to us and we will delete the data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date above, and where appropriate, noted in the app.
